Fall Fitness Swaps

Okay people…it’s upon us. ‘It’ being autumn. *And we all rejoice!*

As a native Texan these so called transitional seasons mean absolutely nothing to me. Here in the southeast region of the lone star state its either summer or summer light, I’ve experienced my fair share of eighty degree Christmases. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve read romantic stories of these quarterly changes…winter, spring and the ever cozy autumn! Leaves changing, a briskness in the air…I’ve only experienced this on vacation. When I visit Mr. Giddy’s family I do get a li’l taste of autumnal splendor. Either way, the first day of fall happens to be this Thursday. With the change of the seasons don’t you think it’s time to switch up your fitness routine?

Forget the bikini body, how about we work on that thigh high boot flashing/clingy sweater sporting/yoga pant ready bod?! There is a reason for every season my giddy friends! And you KNOW you want to enjoy the indulgences of the upcoming holiday season.

With that I now present to you a few helpful fall fitness swaps!

-Forget the treadmill, inhale the glorious autumnal air. Hop on a cruiser bicycle and find a few hills—cruisers traditionally only have one or three gears so your legs will be burnin’!

-Skip the abdominal focus and transition into all encompassing core training. With all of the upcoming shopping marathons to happen this holiday season you need to give your lower back some TLC!

-Out of season for swimming laps? Sign up for a road race! Pick your poison—5k, half marathon or how about a relay race with a few friends?! Cooler weather makes outdoor run training totally tolerable.

-Tank top arms aren’t as much as a focus, turn your attention to the posterior. Nothing pairs better with flared jeans than a solid, booty-ful backside!

-Take advantage of the NOW, don’t fall (hehe) behind with your workouts! Your schedule will fill up fast in November and December so go hard now to take care of yourself and also make room for that Halloween candy and pumpkin pie okay guyz?!

-Swap bubble baths for a restorative yoga class, it’s like adult nap time and your entire body (and mind) will thank you!

  1. I totally agree with you on these “so-called” Texas transitional seasons lol. There’s never really a fall or winter just not as hot! But these a really great tips, I’ve been planning to get back into yoga!

  2. Look at you fit chick. I need to become more fit. Now that fall is here too I feel like I want to work out more, possibly to stay warmer. lol I love how you have explained everything here. Sometimes you have to take your focus off somethings that are not as important. I hope to change my body all together hopefully.

  4. I love all these fall fitness swap ideas and the idea to always be working towards something! As someone who grew up in North Georgia, the faux fall of Texas kills me. I miss running in the crisp air of fall!

  5. Good tips for swapping routines.
    In the Show Me State we get changes of the season although it’s 91 degrees here today. I wear a Fitbit Charge 2 and an UP3 for my steps and I offset this with Zumba, dailyburn, tabata and Wii yoga and hiphop abs,etc. I am always mixing it up.
